Pathologists
A/Prof John Pedersen
A/Prof John Pedersen, MA (Oxon), MBBS (London), FRCPA, PhD (Monash) is the founding histopathologist at TissuPath. John is one of Australia’s foremost experts in uropathology with over 60 peer-reviewed publications and is at the forefront of prostate cancer research through collaborations with Prof Risbridger at Monash University. He also has major expertise in gastrointestinal and skin pathology and has an active teaching role through an appointment at the Alfred hospital. John is also a founding member of the Melbourne Rebels and enjoys spending time at his Somers farm.
Dr Tim Nottle
Dr Tim Nottle, MBBS, FRCPA, trained in histopathology at the Geelong and Box Hill hospitals after graduating from the University of Melbourne. He has undertaken specialist training in urological pathology under the guidance of renowned experts John Pedersen and Professor Ronnie Cohen. His other major interests include gastrointestinal and breast pathology. Tim is a mad Carlton fan, online gamer and self-proclaimed expert in footy tipping and dreamteam.
Dr Andrew Ryan
Dr Andrew Ryan, MBBS (Hons), FRCPA graduated from Monash University in 1996. After a stint of surgical training, he undertook pathology training at Monash Medical Centre and the Alfred Hospital. Andrew has interest and expertise in urological, gastrointestinal, skin and breast pathology, and has involvement in uropathology and melanoma research. Andrew is a member of the RCPA Victorian state committee and head of the education sub-committee. Outside of TissuPath Andrew dedicates time to his young family, his beloved Bombers and his novice photographic skills.
Dr Sam Norden
Dr Sam Norden, MBBS (Hons), FRCPA is a graduate of the University of Melbourne. Sam trained as a specialist histopathologist at the Geelong, Austin and St Vincent’s hospitals before joining TissuPath in 2010 in addition to a part time appointment at Box Hill hospital. Sam has expertise in numerous sub-specialities including urological and skin pathology. When he is away from his microscope Sam enjoys endurance sports, spending time with his young family, and is a long suffering Tigers supporter.
Research and Education
Prof John Mills
Prof John Mills BS, MD, FACP, FRACP, ARCPA is the director of TissuPath’s dedicated research & development division. John is an infectious disease physician with extensive research expertise and decades of experience in the administration of academic and biomedical businesses including biotechnology and pathology. He is the non-executive director of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia (PCFA), and since 2006 has been Chairman of the PCFA’s research program and Research Committee. He is a keen cyclist and skier.
Laboratory
Laboratory Team
Our laboratory team is led by Alison Nanscawen and includes highly trained medical scientists and technicians. Integral to the diagnostic process, our staff have a commitment to quality whilst maintaining a friendly laboratory environment. Alison and her staff are also involved in TissuPath’s research activities and actively involved in teaching trainee scientists.

Administration
Administration
Our administration team, headed by Helen Georgalas, is ready to assist with all general enquires and requests for specimen retrieval or supplies (including request pads/specimen containers). Her warm and helpful staff also have a thorough understanding of our billing procedure and are able to manage any account enquires from you, your practice staff or your patients.

Information Technology
Our IT department is coordinated by Ben Lees. With specific expertise in pathology related software and programming he is available to assist with any computer based issues involving your TissuPath software, electronic delivery of reports or even start up or ongoing practice management software issues.
