Case discussion

This is an important case because it;

  • is a benign condition that can mimic a malignant condition histologically.

The key features to take away include;

  • Bulbous rather than papillary architecture.
  • The relatively uniform atypia in the setting of inflammation and oedema.

 Extended learning topics

Discuss benign mimics of urothelial carcinoma – both papillary and invasive carcinoma.
